About the Department

The Chemistry Division provides the opportunity for a B. Tech. undergraduate to obtain a thorough fundamental knowledge of various fields of chemistry with relevant industrial applications. In addition to facilitating the B. Tech. program of the institute, the division offers a postgraduate program in chemistry (M.Sc. Chemistry) with comprehensive curricula catering to the needs of the industry.

The division, with the help of highly qualified and experienced faculty from various fields of Chemistry, offers a Ph.D. program for bright and deserving candidates with zeal in carrying out research. The research and education in the division encompass diversified fields in Chemistry such as Theoretical & Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Materials Chemistry.

The curriculum inculcates in the students a basic approach to find solutions for chemistry-related problems and develop skills and attitudes necessary to pursue further studies. The division has B. Tech., M.Sc., and research laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, which help in having hands-on experience for undergraduates and postgraduates apart from doing world-class research. The goal of the division is to emphasize the importance of chemistry and apply it through research to cater to the needs of society.
